A new book titled »Hrvatski nacionalni simboli« (Croatian National Symbols) by Dr Mario Jareb, senior research assistant in the Croatian Institute of History (HIP), was publicly promoted in the HIP ceremonial hall in Zagreb on 14 April 2010. Beside the author, the book was promoted by Stjepan Bekavac, editor in chief, the book reviewers Dr Vladimir Geiger and Dr Robert Skenderović and also by Dr Irena Benyovsky Latin and Zvonimir Despot.

The promotion of the book by Mario Jareb »Hrvatski nacionalni simboli«, HIP, 14.4.2010.

The book presents the history and development of the two main Croatian national symbols – the coat of arms and the flag, since their emergence until today though all the periods of their use in the homeland and abroade, but also it provides insight into some other symbols which often appear beside them, such as the Crown of Zvonimir or the triple wattle. Written following the strict scholar style, with numerous references to the professional literature, newspapers, legislation and archive and museum items, the book shall also be easily read by wider interested audience as well. It is provided with numerous illustrations displaying the various modes of use of the national symbols though centuries.
The book was published by HIP and the Alfa publishing house within the “Večernji edicije” series.
