Lecture by Željko Heimer on Israeli flags in the ŽOZ, 3.2.2009.
In organization by Miroslav Šalom Freiberger Cultural Association, in the auditory of the Jewish Community of Zagreb (ŽOZ), 16 Palmotićeva street, on Tuesday, 3 February, Željko Heimer held a lecture titled “The flags of Israel – history, ideas, symbolic”.
Starting with the biblical roots of the Jewish national symbols, the flags of tribes in the Exodus, the sevenfold candelabrum, the shield of David, over the medieval Jewish symbols in Europe, until creation of the Zionist movement and the modern Jewish flag, other Jewish flags in Europe and Palestine at the time, it shows the development of state contemporary symbols of Israel and the national symbols of Jews in the world today.
