»Grb i zastava« № 36 Issued

The № 36 of »Grb i zastava« was printed, in its Volume XVIII, soon to be posted to subscriber addresses. Additional copies of the GiZ you may order from Leykam International. We copy here from the »Editorial«:

It is a subjective feeling of mine that a long time has passed since the previous issue of GiZ, which, I guess, is a consequence of the many events we had in the Association. From the conclusion of the previous issue in mid May to the conclusion of this issue in mid November, there was a succession of lectures, presentations, meetings, appearances in the media, video-link participation at national meetings, and ultimately the biggest event of the year, the 30th International Congress of Vexillology in Beijing, and, on home soil, a joint mini-colloquium with our Slovenian colleagues. In this issue, we present corresponding articles about the two largest of these events, and, for the rest, we offer photos in the Chronicles.
Of course, we continue with regular columns. Thus, this time Galović writes about the heraldic artist from Koprivnica and Zagreb, Stjepan Kukec, and also brings us a report on a recently defended graduate thesis with a heraldic theme. Kuščić deals with another distinguished family from Brač, the Klinsićs, while Peran examines the coats of arms of the Cega family from Trogir. Horvat continues the series about naval flags within the review of Croatian flags of the 15th and 16th centuries, this time about the Senj Uskoks.
Vitez brings us a contribution again – the first part of a review of contemporary flags of county football associations in Croatia – and, with this issue, Barić begins a series on the flags of historical units of the Croatian Army. Todorović continues to report on changes in national flags, this time about Kyrgyzstan, and we can also read about the recently adopted ecclesiastical coats of arms in Croatia.
Unfortunately, with this issue we have to publish two obituaries, about our two great collaborators and members of HGZD. Their departure will be painfully felt, and their heraldic work, as well as the friendship they developed among us, remains permanent. Let them inspire us to continue our work.
I hope you enjoy reading GiZ,

Željko Heimer
