The Kosovo government, in preparation of the plan for proclamation of independence of Kosovo, on 13 June issued a competition for the coat of arms and the flag of Kosovo.
The text of the competition may be seen at web site of the Assembly, while it is opened also for the foreigners until 27 June 2007.

The flag of Kosovo adopted on 17 February 2008.
The competition was run and among the series of proposals, the one chosen is blue field depicting a golden map of Kosovo and an arc of six white five-pointed stars. The flag was first hoisted on the day the independence of the Republic of Kosovo was proclaimed, on 17 February 2008.
