On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 3 p.m. on the Third Program of Croatian Radio HR3, the show “Historical Controversies” was broadcast with the topic “Heraldry and Vexillology”, in which the host, Dr. Gordan Ravančić, Director of the Croatian Institute of History and co-author of the show “Historical Controversies”, spoke with the guest, Dr. Željko Heimer, President of the Croatian Heraldic and Vexillological Society, about coats of arms and flags, i.e. about heraldry and vexillology, disciplines that deal with the study of coats of arms and flags.
In the one-hour show, the host and guest talked about the appearance of coats of arms and flags in our region, the development of these disciplines, who and when drew coats of arms and flags, what are the basic rules of their appearance and how they differ, and about the different perspectives from which Croatian science can approach these phenomena.
In accordance with the tradition of “Historical Controversies”, listeners were also able to hear several excerpts from “From Written Works” – relevant excerpts from our scientists and researchers, representative of these topics.
