Davor Zovko: »Obiteljski grb«, Laurana, Zagreb, 2009.
Some readers, first of all heraldrists might quickly conclude: “nothing new, all well known and already seen” and they are going to be so wrong. This book is one among a few modern heraldic manuals, such that Croatian readers had no chance to see. The refreshment and the step out from the manuals not only copying each other text, but using all the same illustrations, can be seen in each and every part of this book, better said this manual, as it brings data that shall no doubt be used as a constant tool for working and research of various heraldic topics.
With parallel examples of Croatian and West European heraldic practice, primarily that from Sweden where Davor Zovko lives and works as a prominent heraldrist, the author tries to affirm the heraldry as a modern and lively science and to popularize the family arms, which were in Croatia, due to the historical circumstances, for a long time seen with prejudices as a historical relict.
