On the occasion of the International Museum Day, initiated by the association “St. Gaudence”, on 17 May 2013 at 19:00, in the Community Centre in Osor, the lecture “The Coats of Arms on the Islands Group Cres-Lošinj” was held by the museum councillor of the Lošinj Museum, Jasminka Ćus Rukonić.
The wealthiest with the arms, especially those of stone, is the city of Cres, followed by Osor and Veli Lošinj. The heraldic heritage may be found in smaller settlements and in nowadays abandoned shepherd lodgings and villages. The majority of the arms are family arms, while occasionally also the arms of medieval communes of Cres and Osor may be found, as well as those of the ecclesiastic dignitaries. A separate group of arms are the state arms: mostly from the Venetian period, one from the Austrian and two Croatian.
Due to the large interest of the public for the heraldic topics of the Cres and Lošinj islands the lecture is presented now also in Osor, after it was presented in 2002 in Rijeka, in 2010 in Zagreb and in 2012 in Mali Lošinj.
