With the spring issue of 2016 our journal »Grb i zastava« enters its volume 10. The number 19 was just sent to the printers and our members may expiect it soon in their mail boxes. Additional copes may be ordered through the Leykam International publishing house. From the »Editorial« we copy:
… this issue of GiZ is notably longer than usual. On the cover page we show a beautiful example of a family coat of arms from Brač, on which you can read more within the issue. The traditional first article is the ninth addition to the lexicon of Croatian heraldry, this time on a noted heraldist from Hvar.
It is followed by the addendum on Bosnian-Herzegovinian political flags, on which we wrote 10 years ago, and then we visit the seventh art flags festival. If I may say so, the flags there start to look ever more like “real” flags, although they still retain particular artistic expression.
As I could hardly list in this column everything that we could celebrate this year, I write about them separately. Our colleagues from HPM reminded us about a great anniversary which fell about a
month after our previous issue was published, and passed more or less unnoticed by the public.
We have certainly not forgotten the second half of the interesting review of Osijek city vexillology. We also write on defended graduate works and published monographs, and we present the modern
symbols of a Croatian community.
The link between Star Wars and HGZD seem to run deep, as the fans of the science fiction saga celebrate on the same day as our Society’s anniversary (May the Fourth be with you). Therefore,
you should not be surprised by the article befitting this connection.
Following several inquiries, we provide a large-sized reproduction of the Battle of Mohács of 1526 on which Matija Horvat wrote in the last issue.
Finally, I gratefully acknowledge the financial support from the Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports and from the Ministry of Culture, as well as from the City of Zagreb, without which this festive
anniversary issue would not be possible.
I hope you will enjoy reading GiZ!
