21 years of »The FAME«
On the 3 July 2017 the 21st annivarsary of the web site »The Flags & Arms of the Modern Era« (»The FAME«) was marked. The site is edited since 3 July 1996 by Željko Heimer.It presents through drawings and texts the coats of arms and flags of the “modern era” (defined by the author arbitrary as since around 1848, but it leaves place for some older items) from the territories of present-day Croatia and its neighbouring countries and former states. The site deals in particular details with municipal (regional, cantonal, county, city, community etc.) flags of Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as various forms of maritime flags (naval, administrative, yachting, shipping etc.)
The recent updates gave particular effort to include detailed quotes from relevant legislation for the presented municipal flags, and the pages are added with review of university flags and “coats of arms”. The presentation of ecclesiastic provincial and dignitary heraldry was started. Numerous other data was added.

The pages are available simultaneously in Croatian and in English language, with more than 2600 entries, illustrated with almost 5000 mostly author’s drawings, representing a considerable authority in the vexillological and heraldic community. As a valuable publication, the site is archived by the national and University Library in Zagreb, white numerous Wikipedia pages use it as a relevant source.
