Our 13th Tribune was held on Tuesday, 31st January 2012 at 18:30 in the premises of the Zagreb Classical Gymnasium Society (DZKG), 44 Preradovićeva street.
Ms. Jelena Borošak Marijanović from the Croatian History Museum, held the lecture »The flags of the Croatian Sokol societies until 1914«.
The lecture based on the well researched paper presented on the 24th International Congress of Vexillology held in Washington last year, the HGZD board member once again presented to us excellent examples of flag from the Croatian History Museum collection, enriched with the documentary photos (from the collection of the Croatian Sports Museum) depicting the use of those flags in the local and international sporting events. The Sokol movement played an important role in the formation of the Croatian national identity, and the use of the Sokol flags, since their emergence in 1880’s until the beginning of the World War I represents an unavoidable chapter of the Croatian vexillological heritage.
