27th International Congress of Genealogica and Heraldic Sciences, St. Andrews, Scotland

XXVII. ICGHS St. Andrews Scotland 2006XXVII. ICGHS St. Andrews Scotland 2006 The most important herladic event this yeas is no doubt the 27th International Congress of Genealogica and Heraldic Sciences (27th ICGHS), to be held in St. Andrews, Scotland, 21st to 26th August. Such congresses are held biannually to gather about 300 experts from all over the world. More on the congress this year read at www.congress2006.com.

For the CHVA that has just been established, it was too soon to prepare for the Congress, but that does not mean that our members were idle before the establishemt of the Association, so they prepared themselves for it. Croatia shall be represented there by at least two of our members Ivan Mirnik with paper titled "The Order of the Dragon as reflected in Hungarian and Croatian Heraldry" and Dubravka Peić-Čaldarović with the paper "Modifications of Croatian State Heraldry during the 20th century". We wish them sucess on the Congress and we expect a full report when they return.  read more »

Croatian Nobility Association (Hrvatski plemićki zbor, HPZ), the national association of the Croatian nobility, organizes regular meetings every other Wendsday in the premises of the Croatian Pan-European Union, Jurišićeva 1a, Zagreb. The last meeting befor ethe summer break shall be held on 7 June in 19:00 h, and it is interesting to us due to the lecture with a heraldic topic.

The lecture titled the "Croatian coats of arms in Belgium" shall hold Dr. Ivan Mirnik, while the HPZ shall gladly host also the CHVA members.

CHVA Leadership

The CHVA Statutes determine the electional bodies of the Association: the President, the Vice-President, two Board Members and the Secreatry, the five together comprising the Board, and the Court of Honour with three members.

There was about thirty participants present, and how it looked like you may see in our Galery of photographies from the Establishing Assembly.

How to become a CHVA member?

According to the Article 8 of the CHVA Statutes: "A member of the Association may become any adult, business able person, who is interested in the work in the Association and who accepts the provisions of the Statutes. [...]
The members of the Association pay annulal membership fee in the amount determined by the Assembly. [...]".

A person who wish to become a member of the Association files a request (membership form) to the Presidency, who makes the decision on the membership acceptance, to be approved on the next Assembly.  read more »

"Norwegian Flags" in Norway

Association to be registered

In accordance with the decisions of the Establishing Assembly, the CHVA president assembled all the necessery material for the Association registration in the Croatian public register of associations in the appropriate government body, this being the Municipal Office for General Administartion of the City of Zagreb. The Municipal Office should inform us on its decision within 30 days.

Israeli Flags - a series of articles

Zastave IzraelaZastave Izraela In "Ha-Kol", the magazine of the Jewish community in Croatia, nr. 92 (January-February 2006) the first part of a series of articles on Israeli flags has been issued. The articles by Željka Heimera, the CHVA president and a member of the COuncil of the Jewish Cmunity of Zagreb (JCZ). In the mean time the two more parts were also issued in the numbers 93 and 94, and at least three more parts are expected in the next issues.  read more »
