On the CIGH General Assembly held yesterday during the 28th International Congress of Genealogy and Heraldry in Quebek City, the Croatian Heraldic and Vexillologic Association was unanimously granted membership into this international association of genealogic and heraldic societies - the International Genealogic and Heraldic Confederation (CIGH - Confédération Internationale de Généalogie et d'Héraldique). After last year's admission to the International Federation of Vexillologic Associations (FIAV), this rounds up our presence in the international expert associations. It is a recognition of out Society efforts and of long lasting work of our members, whose activities are known around the world.

The 28th International Congress of Genealogic and Heraldic Studies (ICGHS) is held this year in Quebec City, Canada from 23rd to 27th June 2008. The international congresses are organized biannually by the international association CIGH (Confédération Internationale de Généalogie et d'Héraldique) in cooperation with the local heraldic associations and state heraldic authorities, in this case these being Fédération québécoise des sociétés de généalogie, Société de généalogie de Québec and Autorité héraldique du Canada. Parliament Solemn Session 30.05.2008.On the Solemn Sessiof of the Croatian Parliament on 30 May 2008 celebrating the Parliaemnt Day, a new book by Željko Heimer titled "Grb i zastava Republike Hrvatske", issued by publisher Laykam International from Zagreb, was promoted.
The Session was attended by the MP's accompanied with the highest state officials, representatives of the executive and juridical branch, representatives of religious communities and diplomatic corps and other high guests. It begun with the national anthem and the taps for victims. The Speaker, Mr. Luka Bebić held the opening speech on the history and role of the Parliament.  read more »

On May 4th 2006 the HGZD Establishing Assembly was held, meaning that the HGZD celebrateds its 2nd birthday. Happy 2nd anniversary!

Prof. Kolanović in HPM, 03 Apr 2008Prof. Josip Konanović held for us an interesting lecture on the development of legislation and process of adoption of county, city and community coats of arms in Croatia. In the hall of the Croatian History Museum (HPM) gathered some two dozen HGZD members and our guests interested in the issue, while we had a particular honour of attandance by two guests from abroad.  read more »

FB&H new symbols proposalsAs reported by FENA on 26 February 2008, the commission composed of members of both houses of the Federal parlieament has published the three coat of arms proposals and three flag proposals chosen in the last session of the commission judging the design received on the public concourse for the new symbols of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (The "Croat-Bosniak Federation", one of the two entities composing Bosnia and Herzegovina - the other one being Srpska).  read more »

Zastava KosovaGrb Kosova The Kosovo Assembly proclaimed the independence of the Republic and on the same session adopted the design of the flag and teh coat of arms of this now youngest European country. The flag of Kosovo is blue with yellow geographical map of Kosovo and six white five-pointed stars forming an arch above it. The coat of arms follows the same pattern in shield shape bordered with yellow border.

The Community of Tribunj informed us that they issued a contest for design of the coat of arms and the flag. The Contest is issued in the official gazette on 13th February 2008 available here  read more »
